Re: Rumlow thinks he's in love

Yes to all of this! I am super into Bucky, despite staying strong and not breaking for Rumlow and hating him, still needing him for certain things while he's captive -- and it is so evil to make emotional comfort one of those things! I can picture Bucky shaking in the wake of some attack, and struggling so badly when Rumlow tries to comfort him that he injures his wrists in their shackles, but eventually having to collapse into Rumlow's arms and accept the soothing and the stroking and if he closes his eyes he can pretend it's someone else.

I am also still stuck on the particular image of Rumlow giving Bucky shoulder rubs. Everything about that -- the implied intimacy, that Rumlow knows Bucky's muscles knot up supporting the prosthetic; the delightfully terrible juxtaposition of comfort in a non-con situation; the mindfuckery of a captor going above and beyond to fulfill his captive's needs; beautiful. I can picture more things along those lines, like, what if Bucky has special dietary requirements? And Rumlow knows this from his years spent working with the asset. So, of course, he takes care to supply Bucky with things he can actually eat, like custom nutritional shakes or normal food but only certain types. And when Bucky is rescued, his rescuers, also aware of his food issues, were expecting to find him in some state of starvation, but he's just... fine. He's not even hungry when he's rescued. He just had lunch.
