And you bring up a really good point about the two types of horror -- I always see Bucky's greatest struggle as being the erasure of self through conformity (whereas Steve's self gets erased through the mythologizing of Captain America), and ... the horror here for Bucky is that it's the moment when he decides that his identity doesn't matter, because literally NO ONE cares anymore.
