You could kind of split the difference and say he needs to be fucked by another person--doesn't matter with what, but he can't do it alone. (I seem to remember reading, um, probably in fic, that the endorphin release is hugely higher when you have sex/orgasms with another person rather than masturbating, regardless of the physical acts, so--maybe something like that?)
