Steve gets the trash-party treatment from some group of bad guys on a SHIELD mission gone wrong. That's not what traumatizes him. What traumatizes him is having to give an explicit account of all the gory details to a panel of top-level SHIELD brass, including Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Victoria Hand, and Jasper Sitwell. None of them openly have it in for him or anything, but they're all prepared to grill him about being raped and tortured to pursue their own agendas, whether that's intel on the captors, plugging potential leaks, or establishing blame for the entire clusterfuck.
