Just imagine me squishing my hands against my face and making incomprehensible keening noises and you will have something like my reaction to this chapter.
Yimei just casually cleaning Bucky Because "He's a weapon, he has to be maintained. It's a reminder." But even so, he likes to be well-groomed Ugh my precious murder-baby let me hug you :( And then, "He probably just considers it his due" ahaha Mike no. Just. Look at your life! Look at your choices! You are clearly bad at logic.
I love the mention of STRIKE members covertly filming Bucky in the field too. I bed Mikey has every last bit of that footage stashed away on his computer under a folder subtly labeled something like ULTRA BORING WORK DOCUMENTS THAT ARE DEFINITELY NOT PORN.
And Yimei then just casually telling Bucky to stay for a bit because he's got some recreational use scheduled before he can go back to cryo. She treats him like a pet: sure she'll talk to him, and pet him, and take care of him, but ultimately he's property that she (and others) controls.
But ok then the end happens and god, yes, the Soldier as a savage thing on a slender leash, wary and unhappy, but still so, so dangerous. And alright, I think I need to read the next part now.
