I've just found out this fic because of recent comments and I have to say it's one of the most terrible things I've ever read in here, and I mean that as the ultimate compliment.
At first, I was weirded out by the use of James and not Bucky, but the reasoning behind it made perfect sense. You've managed to completely capture the conflict inside his head. I cried so hard when he asks Sam to massage his shoulder.
Please continue, I can't wait to know what happens next.
(Regarding the discussion about Sam, I'm new to the fandom, but one thing I've realized is that people expect Sam to be perfect. Because in the movie he just comes across as a very nice and caring person, we usually expect him to know exactly what to say and do in an extreme situation. But Sam is human. Nobody's perfect, and in this fic we have him dealing with a terrible situation. It's unfair to expect him to go Therapist Mode and completely ignore his own needs. His actions might not have been the best for Bucky, but he was in no way abusive.)
