Oh man, I'm glad I got it right! And thank you for writing and sharing this. I... actually haven't commented here all that often over the years, but this fic pulled me out of lurking. I could feel the sense of empathy for Steve throughout the subtext, regardless of what the text itself did, so I'm honestly grateful to get to read something like this.
