it makes beautiful sick sense, too, if Sam never told anyone that he looked at this man's face for a couple months of counseling and then got an up-close-and-personal horror show of it for a brutal hour, then everyone else thinks he believes he recognized HYDRA Grunt #485 through a crack in the door... based on kicking him once the day the hellicarriers went up, which just isn't much to go on
and I'm always, always so down for "this was the worst thing that ever happened, life-changing, unimaginably bad, character can't even come to grips with it... and then it happens again"
