One of Bucky's attackers (Rumlow? Pierce? I'm open to anyone) makes a point of letting him know just how gentle, merciful, restrained etc they're being - while actually being quite violent. For example - "I'm going easy on you," "You're lucky it's me and not someone else," "Why are you crying when I'm being so sweet to you?" etc.
+ Doing "nice" things during the otherwise violent rape(s), like stroking Bucky's hair, wiping away tears, using pet names, cleaning him up afterwards
+ It's an ongoing thing, and Bucky really does start to feel like it's not that bad, that he should be grateful to this person
+ If there's a little bit of truth to the lies - In some ways, Bucky really does prefer this kind of treatment over gang rapes/outright brutality
+ Other forms of gaslighting/manipulation - "I'm only doing this because you asked for it" and/or "I'm giving you what you need/like because I'm just so nice" etc
I'm open to either WS era or post WS retraumatizing here!
