What if Bucky's post-Civil War recovery in Wakanda was HYDRA's plan all along? What if HYDRA agents were watching from the shadows all the time, letting trigger word-free Bucky work thru most of his trauma, recover and live his best life on a farm in Wakanda. And just when everything is Coming Up Milhouse, Buck has his man with him and he's finally feeling like a person again, old friends pay him a visit. Said friends decide to throw a proper trash party, just like the good old days, and what a better place for that than a remote farm surrounded by woodland. They rape Bucky and make Steve watch, really driving home the point that absolutely nowhere is safe. Teaching him a painful lesson that he only ever got better because they allowed him, and he is still theirs to use as they please. That no matter how far you run and how much better you think you got, your past is gonna catch up with you. For Cap, the past is watching people he loves most getting hurt over and over again. For Bucky, the past is being a HYDRA fucktoy. Make it brutal, make it violent, make it abso-fuckin-lutely awful for Steve to watch. Just to make it clear, this is not an evilgoodguys prompt and I'm not asking for Wakanda to be connected to HYDRA at all. Just for HYDRA letting events unfold a certain way.
