So my original thought was just Westfahl fucking up, like ya do, but now I much prefer that he manages to shift the blame onto "the new guy" who is not actually new anymore, but just the most recent. The point is, New Guy knows what's up with being the asset's reward but he ALSO knows that if he tries to talk his way out of it with Rumlow, his punishment for snitching will be way, wayyyyy worse... so he spends the night muttering, "Dammit, Westfahl," angrily under his breath as he begrudgingly submits to the soldier's, erm, affections.
