(Anonymous) 2016-05-08 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)100% Bucky doing it is the same as Steve doing it. Somewhere in between WS and Bucky is iffy. To me, options 2 and 3 are unacceptable, but I am not the mod and it is up to him/her.

What trashmod is saying is please resist the temptation to police what you think the exact boundary of the rule should be, because it's more like a guideline anyway--a very loose guideline in the wake of Civil War. It is definitely not a trashmeme philosophical mission statement to be mined for implications about the characters' moral purity, how dark is too dark or too OOC, or in the case of unstable/ambiguous/dark-past figures like the Winter Soldier and Natasha, how much free will is too much free will to get a free-for-all trash pass.
The stupid thing emerged as a crude but convenient line in the sand in the early days of hashing out what flavors of dirtybadwrong trashmeme was geared towards. The meme has undergone plenty of other topic drifts since then; if the rule can't be maintained post-CW without requiring endless hair-splitting over how much revenge is too much revenge, I'd sooner ditch it altogether.
