Inspired by the pre-war Bucky fill above, just when Steve and Bucky have finally gotten together in the 30s/40s after much pining and angst, Steve's raped. Whether he gets jumped, or by someone he knows, or whatever, up to the author. Except Steve will never breath a word of it because of some pretty deep internalized homophobia, so even though he's pretty physically and emotionally messed up by it, he's determined to never let Bucky find out (some bonus worrying that Bucky will think he's damaged goods or did something to provoke it would be my catnip).
Cue Bucky flipping out that Steve's seeing someone else, because they'd just gotten together but suddenly Steve won't sleep with him or avoids him sexually, there's come on Steve's clothes in the laundry, whatever, all while Steve's trying to A. be stoic and B. fretting that Bucky won't want him anymore if he finds out or doesn't put out again soon enough.
(I hope this doesn't stray too close to the dark good guys rule. Mostly I'd like the boys dealing with masculinity, internalized homophobia and relationship angst on top of rape trauma).
