Since Pierce is dead, the spot of permanent handler is now free again--and the asset decides that he never wants to belong to someone who'll use him as their killer ever again. The obvious solution: Make Steve his handler.

Bucky is happy as a clam, living with Steve and being treated with even more kindness and respect than he anticipated, but Steve is horrified when he realizes that no only does Bucky have to obey his every order and try to anticipate his wishes, it can't ever be undone...

So with HYDRA, Bucky had knowledge literally beaten into him. Between that the the electro shocks, the only way he retains knowledge and habits long term is through pain, ideally administered by someone else. And the more frequently it's reinforced, the deeper it is ingrained.

I'm interested in the ways this would impact him post-TWS (or post-CW, if the filler prefers to go that way.)

Some possible ideas:
- writing lists of reminders to read in the morning, like "this is civilian clothing" and "a regular day involves (1) brushing your teeth...", etc
- needing to regularly zap himself in order to fight against really deeply ingrained stuff. Like, "don't go back to the nearest HYDRA base" and "you are not a thing" and "your body is yours."
- maybe the self-reinforcement doesn't work that well and he finally gives up and asks the Avengers to truly beat that into him.
- maybe the Avengers find out about the problem only when he starts slipping up in front of them

Basically I want Bucky to go through a lot of pain that no one wants to inflict.

Partially inspired by the “gang rape in sad apartment” prompt, but with a different slant.

A recovering Bucky, who either lives alone or with Steve and/or Sam (not picky), is raped at home by a team of HYDRA baddies (again, not picky.) He’s alone when it happens, probably doing some mundane task (reading on a lazy Sunday etc), and taken completely by surprise.

The apartment has become a safe, comfortable space for him. The bigger emphasis on this better because - well, not anymore! All of those nice memories and belongings and his sense of safety/comfort are completely shattered. They trash the place. If he lives with someone else, they taunt him about the relationship. They taunt him for trying to be a normal person. They rape him in his (soft, comfortable) bed. Would love it if the rape is littered with Bucky recalling positive memories of certain items/objects/locations, maybe doing so in an attempt to ground himself.

As much as I love the trope of trash parties being a long-running Hydra institution... I really want to see the dynamics of a version where the sexual abuse is committed in isolation, on the sly, by someone who doesn't know if they can get away with it, and who's breaking all sorts of institutional taboos about who gets to handle the Winter Soldier and how. Especially if it's a version of the Soldier who's smart, capable, and aggressive, despite being conditioned for loyalty/obedience and memory-wiped out of all sense of context.

- Who has the means to coerce the Soldier and the opportunity to do it undetected? Another enhanced operative taking advantage of unexpected circumstances on a mission? A rogue superior who's able to compel obedience through control of the brainwashing tech? A scientist or doctor who has access to him restrained and sedated?

- Genuine uncertainty about his ability and willingness to fight back. Does the conditioned obedience extend that far? Are they a physical match, or is this person at risk of getting snapped like a twig if the Soldier goes violent? Will he report to a superior further up the chain, and will that person turn a blind eye or descend like the wrath of God on whoever's misusing Hydra's secret weapon?

- Fucked-up power games. Erasing his memory of the abuse so he can't expose it to the higher-ups. Superiors using the perv as leverage, punishing the abuse if that will secure the Soldier's loyalty but threatening to turn a blind eye if he falls out of line. The abuse itself mattering far less than the fact that it's dirt to hold over an opponent in an internecine power struggle.

- Especially if the Winter Soldier's a cunning bastard who plays along just as much as he has to in order to get an opportunity to fucking murder everyone responsible.

Not consciously, of course. But there's this nagging feeling that Steve should have looked for him when he fell off that cliff, and everything that happened results from him NOT doing that. So he can't shake the feeling that it all could have been prevented.

So maybe when he's having an especially bad memory, or when he sees the other Avengers being happy and cozy and he thinks "this could have been me", he sort of lashes out by sharing a particularly bad rape/torture memory. Maybe the first time he does it is by accident, but he catches on what effect this has.

So the Winter Soldier is sent out on a mission, and Hydra decides he needs a major distraction to get it done so they hired Deadpool to attract attention. Of course Deadpool doesn't know what his real purpose is, he just thinks he's there to kill people in a really fun way. But then he meets the Winter Soldier.

Winter Soldier was told not to interfere with Deadpool, so he tries to ignore him, but Deadpool decides he wants to flirt with him since he's hot and competent with weapons. Eventually WS decides that nothing was going to get done unless he lets Deadpool have sex with him so he just jumps him right then and there, like on a rooftop or in an alley.

WS treats the sex like all the other trash that happens to him, he even pretends to like it like all his handlers order him to. Deadpool doesn't know what's going on with that, he's surprised someone so hot and deadly would sleep with him.

Okay, so yesterday at about 1AM I had like this...maybe half-assed, not so correct idea when I was planning a roleplay on Twitter. Or at least, it sounds amazing in my own mind.

Just imagine some sort of 'alternate universe' where Rumlow either quit as a handler or where HYDRA fell but he never ended up with a building on his face (aka he's still good looking and kind of flawless). Basically, he ends up becoming this normal, domestic guy with just alcohol as his best friend...and the occasional prostitute. (In the background story I developped for my character, Rumlow even has a wife and daughter, but HYDRA threatens to kill them in case he decides to leave. Let's just assume they got murdered because of reasons to be filled in along the way).
Now, prostitutes wouldn't seem to do it for Rumlow, because we all know he's sort of...always been either up the Asset's ass, or at least with his HYDRA husband Rollins for god knows how long. In short: he's shamelessly gay (or bisexual, if you don't want to see his family as a cover up for the real Brock Rumlow), and maybe women wouldn't really make him feel the same way like the Asset and Rollins used to do. Maybe he even misses/needs them too much he even can't enjoy sex with others like he hoped. Rumlow being the bag of dicks that he can be, would of course be able to do terrible things to these innocent women he'd call over for company every now and then.

Speaks for itself that the chances are big Rumlow, aka sex offender, ends up in prison... It's also not very uncommon for this type of guys to be not so popular in a prison environment, and add on the "drop the soap" trope and Brock Rumlow the Prison Fuckboy is born.

Brock Rumlow, once a handler in control, becomes the mutt he used to beat up for fun.
The one shoving it up one's ass becomes the one getting it up the ass.

And even though he would be capable of defending himself, he probably wouldn't because what if he secretly likes it? What if the countless homophobic slurs he'd shout at these men were just a cover up to just not come in front of these men and possibly humiliate himself or his fragile masculinity.

So Bucky's rescued and cleared of his "crimes" and he's finally home with Steve and the Avengers (can be CA:CW compliant or not, up to the filler). He's safe now and he's supposed to be fine and healthy and happy everything. And everything seems fine on the surface. But now that he's out of immediate danger, he's wracked with trash nightmares and flashbacks and all kinds of psychological awfulness. He knows he should probably ask for help or talk to a therapist, but he doesn't know how to do that or where to start. Instead, he internalizes everything, can't sleep at all, and just basically starts to silently self-destruct.

THEN, someone else (could be Steve or Sam or any other Avenger) gets attacked/raped and starts to talk to Bucky about it... maybe because they think Bucky would understand what they're going through, or maybe just because Bucky's silent, stoic presence is comforting. At first Bucky doesn't know how to respond, but after awhile he feels comfortable enough to talk back, and they slowly help each other start to heal.

Could be within an established relationship or maybe the helping-each-other thing sparks some romance or could be an entirely gen story. Just give me lots of manly pain and FEELS and eventual mutual recovery.
