Whether he gets jumped, or by someone he knows, or whatever, up to the author. Back in a dumpster of yore, there was a prompt for trash where Bucky gets debriefed in Shield custody by a skeptical agent who makes him recount details of his rapes and repeat things ad nauseum to check for inconsistencies. I want that, but with the journals of sadness.

So, something like a canon divergence where Bucky's captured in Romania along with the backpack of sadness, and instead of being interrogated by Zemo, he's interrogated at length about every single detail in the journals. Maybe Bucky made the mistake of remembering some high-level Hydra planning that took place during a gang rape, maybe Shield hopes that knowing some Hydra mucky-muck's sexual proclivities will help track him down, whatever, but it starts off as ostensibly for good reasons but devolves into every intimate detail Bucky thought no one would ever see being dragged out for everyone including Steve to see and hear.

+ if the interrogator starts grilling Bucky on something he did to cope with the flashbacks/stress/memories, as if dealing with something in the wrong way means that he's lying about it or his memory of it is incorrect
