I'm also very much into this! One reason would totally be that Frank Grillo is supernova hot, and he's got those big expressive eyes that definitely can't only convey monodimensional villainy. I mean, I was hoping that they had chosen him because of this (it's the kind of character he plays usually) dichotomy and because MAYBE he's going to be at least ambiguous in the sequel?

the other goodguy!Rumlow fics I found are usually terrible. Because well, you can't transform him so easily from bad to good without a good turn or delving into his mind convincingly.
Let him be wicked still is pretty gorgeous too. I loved that part where they are playing cards, it honestly almost did me in.

DA: I wrote the prompt for Let Him Be Wicked Still (and ~LOVED~ the fill SO MUCH) because I am sooooo here for exploring the grey areas of morality. Making good people do bad things, making bad people do good things - hell, blurring the line between "good people" and "bad people" as much as possible. I would read the shit out of Alexander Pierce redemption fic if someone could make it convincing.

I've noped out of most of the Rumlow redemption fics I've found so far for the reasons you describe, so I'm super grateful for these recs, neither of which I've come across before :)
