I'm working on a longer fic right now and sometimes these posts come up on my dash and I just? Stop writing for weeks? I mean I have other shit to write but still this really hits me hard, knowing I have mutuals who literally think of me as a Neonazi rapist for writing fics containing rape and sexual abuse. Like, lmao, I get that there is a lot about this concept that is problematic but for fuck's sake, look in the crime novel section and tell me that there isn't this huge trend with rape and pedophilia and child murdering and it sells and sells and everyone reads this shit but God forbid I write this while being fully aware of the problems, right. People, go and call out your bestseller crime writers.
Not to mention that I see way to many people arguing that Hydra Trash Party is especially bad because what it does to the winter soldier / Bucky. Like, yeah, alright! I have to live with every female character in everything ever having a rape / abuse origin story and every man also having a story which involves a hurt woman but I'm definitely not allowed to write about fictional male characters suffering what fictional women suffer! That's Wrong and Bad!

This makes it look like I write about pedophilia which I don't. 'Underage' is a 100% no go for me. I get why a writer would target (fictional) children for shock value and to write a Truly Horrifying Crime but it's just, no. Wouldn't do that for money and hate to see it in book stores and on bestseller lists

No, but honestly, don't let those people get you down. If they'd bother to educate themselves just a tiny bit, they'd stop spreading such nonsense. Still, it's always a good idea to have a separate trash account if you already know your mutuals disapprove. (Why are they mutuals again...?)

If you don't want to read wank, don't go to the trash party tag on tumblr. Block people. If you're afraid of being flamed on Ao3, post your story here, ultimately or until you have gathered enough fuck you-attitude. People here are happy and grateful to read more trash stories, hopefully our comments will give you an ego boost! :D

Also help making sure the meme stays a cozy place for other kinksters. I know it's tempting to say/imply things like: "I like fucked up thing X, but I hate fucked up thing Y, it's so terrible and everyone who gets off on it is a worse person than me." Some people around here are happy and confident with the things they like, others are more insecure and come to this place to get a break from judgement.

I consider myself, despite writing and enjoying writing rape, as kink critical. Ok ok ok I know that this is a difficult position when I'm doing HTP...
I understand why I have mutuals who don't want to read anything related to Hydra Trash Party, I just don't get why participating in it makes me a Nazi rapist any more than it makes crime fiction writers child abusers.
I think it's important to think about why one likes a specific 'problematic' 'kink' and hell, I wouldn't even consider myself 'kinky' as none of the things I like writing about are 'kinky' in the sense of 'this gives me sexual pleasure'. My enjoyment of writing these things isn't of sexual nature, it pleases me as someone who is into 'dark' stories. (I'm NOT saying that everyone here has sexual kinks or that there is anything wrong with having them, it's just a misconception I hear a lot:' Oh, you get off on rape!')
This doesn't mean I think I have a better or 'morally safer' (I cringed typing this) way of enjoying these topics than a person who enjoys them sexually, that's not what I'm saying. (God, I find it hard to express myself accurately, English is not my first language. ) For my own sake, I prefer a more careful approach than the 'Fuck all'-approach (which is great but I just cannot do it) to this topic and I wouldn't want people to talk about Hydra Trash Party participants as kinksters. I've had my fair share with kinksters when the 'Kink is a sexual orientation! Come out as kinky!' (no) discussion broke lose.
So yeah, I also have several things that are off limit. There is a thread somewhere on this meme were people discuss it but I usually don't discuss here, just post and read. I *AM* one of those people who are insecure and it doesn't stop when I get people who comment my stories (story, I only had one here). And I don't feel comfortable shrugging my discomfort off (and I can't, either). I feel it keeps me grounded and stay critical because I would be lying if I said I felt 100% comfortable with 100% of the Hydra Trash Party participants.
This whole liking-writing-rape / abuse-thing is a mess for me personally, it's a mess on tumblr with people on the one hand saying 'HTP people are literal Neonazi rapist and abusers' and other people saying 'Don't kinkshame' because whew, yeah, there is so much grey area in this whole kink thing and I much prefer kink critical people but still... would like... not to be seen as a... nazi rapist?! But I get and know and try not to judge that every person is different on this and that different people have different reasons to participate or not participate in HTP. And these discussions really help! 8 years in fanfiction communities and I've never seen a more aware, safer 'problematic' fandom corner. It's not 100% safe but it's the safest yet and I'm glad to read and write here. I'm really glad there are strict rules.
