A/b/o doesn't have to contain mpreg, forced societal roles or non con. Or it can contain those and deconstruct what they mean and why they're not good. It's pretty much true of any genre of fic, just like our rape fic isn't like, like, the other, rapier rape fic.

Personally, I'm okay with mpreg but the obsessive fixation on pregnancy kink in A/b/o is not what I'm there for. Especially the biological gymnastics people have to do in order to write a relationship with a female alpha. I'm into the power exchange aspect and the whole primitive hormonal attraction thing, babies are just good plot devices.
