Rumlow centric fic

Hey guys- I'm new here so I'm not sure how things work, but I think I get the general idea. Please correct me if I mess up.

Anyway, while I enjoy htp (and I must say there are some surprisingly great psychological and character studies to be found here), I was wondering where I can go if I wanted to prompt/look for fanfiction that has Rumlow as a main character outside of htp, that is, outside of kink. I noticed in the general avengers fanfiction tags that Rumlow is usually a convenient villain to be killed off by the third paragraph or that Asshole Ex-boyfriend in au stucky.

But what if I wanna read a fic about the winter soldier and Rumlow ditching shield/hydra and becoming independent contractors? Or Rumlow and Loki on some awkward revenge road trip of lies and backstabbery (the resultant dialogue is hilarious in my head).

And while I know au isn't allowed, I can't be the only one who's longed for au MMA fanfic, am I??

I completely sympathize with you! It's hard when your fav is someone who's not often incorporated into AU's and the like. I LOVE the HTP and the freedom it allows for exploring the characters, but I would LOVE to find a cute coffee-shop AU with Zemo in it, so I feel you OP :]

maybe try searching for "goodguy!rumlow" fics or "morally grey!rumlow" fics, they may offer you a less damning exploration of his character. If I see any fun AU's, I'll let you know!

Hey thanks! I didn't think I was gonna get a reply. Aw man, I laughed at the idea of Zemo, Bucky and Rumlow working at a coffee shop. It would be run with frightening, militaristic efficiency. And murder.

I just would really enjoy reading a plotty, Rumlow centric fic because I was really taken by him in CW (or maybe it's just Frank Grillo's fault). He came off as really competent, professional and oddly dedicated to Hydra's cause. Just, all of that together is intriguing to me.

Imma check out that link. If you haven't already read it, there's a fic called Sold my Soul to a Three Piece by CharmingContender on ao3 which features a really competent Rumlow.

Sandrine Shaw wrote two great Rumlow fics, arguably my favorite ones about him. If you like A/B/O Weirdlet wrote a really great fic too, though it's a WIP and she hasn't updated it in a while.
