I think a lot of old memes like this one died in part because there was no curation - and since we haven’t had this issue of a lot of off-topic prompts happening in a short amount of time in the other dumpsters, it seems to be the case that new people are coming in and leaving prompts without taking the time to really immerse themselves and see what is and isn’t on topic. Plus, without some kind of curation, we’re gonna see a whole bunch of prompts with no fills, which imo is how the meme will follow the path of other memes and start to die off.

To be honest, for me it's the exact opposite - I've been lurking 'round the dumpster ever since the meme was a tiny disgusting back alley baby, and know very well what's on and off topic. I'm also aware that there is quite a few unfilled prompts requesting within the rules content, and I think they're not filled because you can already find that content elsewhere. Therefore, if we want new content, we need to push the scope of prompts.

Yes, that's exactly it, I think. There has to be some level of flexibility, or else people lose interest.

I came here for comforting familiar dirty bad wrong rape and trauma drama. I came for Bucky and Steve emotionally imploding as their asses get slammed like Thor's coffee mug.

I am the one wrong... for defending something I love from being forcefully changed.... by someone that came into my trashy space... and decided the fics on ANOTHER website... aren't filling their needs...

I ... don't see how anyone is forcing anything to go in a different direction at all? It's true that there have been more whumpy/optional noncon prompts recently, but that content has almost always been allowed if the premise was messed up enough? As long as things weren't PG-13, psychological horror/abuse/medical torture prompts were generally allowed, as far as I can tell?

No one said that they disagree with the premise of the meme. They said they'd like to read/write different takes on the topic, rather than stuff that is near identical to what they've read/written already. No one's here because they expected to find a fic about Bucky adopting a puppy. They're here because there's only as many times as you can search a tag on AO3 and come up with a bunch of very similar takes on a broad and creative topic.

Okay, but some of us consider Bucky wetting himself due to torture to be dirtybadwrong sexy. There's potential to kink on the result of HYDRA's treatment of Bucky that's not rape, and that's frankly not welcome in other spaces, so no wonder it ends up here.

Same with the other non-sexual but definitely fucked-up stuff, like the autocannibalism. It's not really welcome or likely to get filled elsewhere.
