Yep. It's been a while since I set one up, I guess everything has evolved a ton since then. Anybody familiar with how these things work nowadays or is this my chance to bring my nerd-knowledge up to date?

About the queer history. I'm working on a fill – burnable trash rather than the stuff you have to take to the dump – where Steve and Bucky were an item before the war, but managed to convince themselves it wasn't serious because they both switched in bed, the logic being that if they were really queer they would be in fixed top/bottom roles. I'm not sure how explicit the narrator will be about this, but as the author, yeah, this scenario involved some pretty deep denial and willful obtuseness. Is this... a reasonably accurate portrait of the popular image of queerness at the time? I'm trying to get a scenario where they knew it was an option, but were convinced/managed to convince themselves it just wasn't them, plus the difference between switching and fixed roles is relevant to the prompt.

If anyone wants sciencey help I have a PhD in organic chemistry - which is different to biochemistry, but along the way I've also studied a fair bit of biology, pharmaceutical chemistry, even some cognitive psychology. So if I don't know the answers to questions I'll probably know where to look for them (and have access to whatever journal articles may be relevant).

I've been managing a general Cap-fandom IRC channel of late (http://eatingcroutons.tumblr.com/post/101797858116/cap-fandom-chatroom-anyone) and it's been a lot of fun! A trash party-specific channel on the same server could actually be a good idea, as some of the regulars on the general channel aren't big fans of trash party fare. Same anon: I like IRC for this sort of thing because it's a fixed location people can drop in and out of whenever's convenient, and because you can choose whatever moniker you like to identify yourself if you prefer not to share your Tumblr/other identity - but if others have other suggestions I am totally up for any kind of chatting with fellow trash mongers.

May I suggest we pick a specific time to try this? (Not that people can't do it other times, of course.) But I'd like to drop by when others are there too! Probably not this week, though, in light of USian holidays.

A specific kink of mine involves good!guy or reformed Rumlow because I love the idea of him being punished for being turned good, that it seems fucked up enough if you think of it, but sadly it isn't permitted and it makes me frustrated because this is the only place I could ever post something like this, lol.

Then, I've got many trashy kinks that I'd love paired with a loving relationship, there's no way I could find a way to prompt them without breaking the rules. :C

This is my kink too, anon! I'm 100% aware that it's kinkmeme non-compliant, but I love redemption!Rumlow.

I don't think he was always a good guy; he seemed to be fully on board with Project Insight even though Pierce was planning to kill 20 million people, and he did give the orders to execute Steve, Sam, and Natasha. But I like to think that he followed Pierce's American Fascist-Neoconservative vision because he truly believed the world would be better for it ("order through pain" on a global political scale), and once Pierce died Rumlow wouldn't fall in with Daniel Whitehall or von Strucker (I headcanon Rumlow as a former US Special Forces commander, and I don't think he'd be happy to take orders from non-Americans, even if they are HYDRA). After CA:TWS, I imagine he'd strike out on his own, maybe track down the survivors of his S.H.I.E.L.D./HYDRA team to make sure they weren't rotting in a jail cell somewhere, and in doing so come to realise the extent of what he was trying to accomplish - possibly when running into WS!Bucky and/or Steve. Cue macho Axe-flavoured angst mixed in with good-guy!revenge whump.

In the kinkmeme, though, the closest I've seen is not-as-bad-as-he-could-have-been!Rumlow. My favourite fic in this category is Lauralot's "Like Crocuses in the Snow" (http://archiveofourown.org/works/2221416) in which Rumlow never sexually abused the Winter Soldier but Steve believes he did and beats him up for it. In anon's "Let Him Be Wicked Still" (http://archiveofourown.org/works/2502503), Rumlow reluctantly follows orders to rape the Winter Soldier, and when Bucky finds him after CA:TWS, Rumlow apologises. I think that's as close as we'll get to Rumlow showing remorse or pangs of conscience in this kinkmeme, though.

And Post Civil War stuff. So much Post Civil War stuff with Bucky that's so great and ripe for Hydra Trash fics. Especially in terms of Bucky after Steve dies. Possibly just because I'm super curious for headcanons as to how the MCU will deal with that (I need to have so many conversations about that because I'm not prepared but I am totally here for the angst). And how MCU Bucky is going to take it because so far, I'm assuming he's a lot less stable than comics Bucky.
And like in terms of trash, I kinda dig barely-healing Bucky having Steve die and then all the Hydra Party Favor trauma that had gotten better with Steve coming back.
Plus you get Rumlow gloating about killing Steve.
There's just so much joyous potential Bucky pain there.

Also part of me really digs Hydra getting hold of Cap!Bucky and assorted trash happening with that. .

Just. Comics have so much trash potential. Y'all need to read Cap Volume 5.

I'm also very much into this! One reason would totally be that Frank Grillo is supernova hot, and he's got those big expressive eyes that definitely can't only convey monodimensional villainy. I mean, I was hoping that they had chosen him because of this (it's the kind of character he plays usually) dichotomy and because MAYBE he's going to be at least ambiguous in the sequel?

the other goodguy!Rumlow fics I found are usually terrible. Because well, you can't transform him so easily from bad to good without a good turn or delving into his mind convincingly.
Let him be wicked still is pretty gorgeous too. I loved that part where they are playing cards, it honestly almost did me in.

AYRT: So far it's been busiest in the evenings US time. Coordinating something with other timezones is tricky, and probably impossible during the week. If people sleep between roughly 1am and 8am, and have weekday commitments from around 8am to 6pm, here's what the situation looks like:

DA: I wrote the prompt for Let Him Be Wicked Still (and ~LOVED~ the fill SO MUCH) because I am sooooo here for exploring the grey areas of morality. Making good people do bad things, making bad people do good things - hell, blurring the line between "good people" and "bad people" as much as possible. ~~I would read the shit out of Alexander Pierce redemption fic if someone could make it convincing.~~

I've noped out of most of the Rumlow redemption fics I've found so far for the reasons you describe, so I'm super grateful for these recs, neither of which I've come across before :)
