As usual, BLANKET NON-CON AND NSFW WARNINGS apply: just assume going in that everything in this landfill is unfit for human consumption.

oh no my heart D: would Bucky be aware of the other side of the consent problem, about whether his partner is okay with hearing about the sordid details he feels like they need to hear? how messed up an impossible situation would it be if the partner felt like they could handle knowing about the abuse in general terms, but found it too upsetting (on Bucky's behalf, knowing how badly he was abused) to hear about the kind of specifics Bucky felt like he had to give in order for the partner to make informed consent ):

He would be aware of that to a point, yes, and he certainly wouldn't specifically do it to hurt that person (though maybe does want to push them away subconsciously).

The issue there, however, that he WOULD be pretty adamant about it *needing it to be done*. He wouldn't push the stories on his partner if they told him they don't want it, or stop if they get too upset - however, that would lead to him not letting the relationship progress.

I guess it could be seen as emotional blackmail(though that certainly would not be his intent), because the partner would have to endure these stories to be allowed close, and to be allowed physical contact.

So I guess that sort of would put them in a pickle: How much are the willing to endure for say, Bucky allowing them to hold him, or before they can can give him even a chaste kiss.

So it's very much consent, and the partner would be very much in control (but in practice that means the get to decide how much they want to be emotionally hurt by this, and also, how much the's willing to see buck upset - because it IS upsetting to him.

And yeah, I think the details might definitely be more than they bargained for.

omg imagine him being so upset when that occurs to him and he's like "oh no, I DID perpetrate something nonconsensual by informing them of these things without their consent!" and then he just goes into a crazy tailspin of how can he do anything consensual ever

That would definitely screw him up, but it's a totally valid scenario!

He'd totally ask consent to share his stories either way, though.
