Oh man I have such a *thing* for horrible unfair angst and emotions that just won't do what you *want* them to, regardless of how much you know how you should feel and what the logical, caring part of your brain is telling you. Steve would be eaten alive by guilt, but wouldn't even allow himself to acknowledge that, because what right does he have to feel guilty about his own dumb brain when Bucky's the one who actually went through horrible (if horribly disgusting) things (according to his own thought process)?? And of course it would never occur to him to talk about his thoughts with someone, like Sam or a proper counselor, because he's not the one who experienced terrible things and if he could just *will* himself to stop being disgusted by things Bucky had no control over, everything would be great! ...
