Rumlow gets raped
(Anonymous) 2015-10-16 01:24 am (UTC)(link)Preening, cockatiel Rumlow, post rape having self esteem issues. Nobody notices except maybe Rollins who just realizes that he's quieter lately.
Bucky was the first and only one to see him after the rape and helped him get his pants back on. Nobody else knows that he was raped because Rumlow would rather die than anyone know.
The asset notices of course and having been the one to find Rumlow starts to repeat what he considers to be useful advice like 'It hurts less if you just relax next time.' And Rumlow, who has never seen the asset raped or be anything less than amazing-in-combat, deadly precision, is just rocked by this realization.
He makes the asset swear not to tell anyone, threatens him, etc. Bucky is puzzled as to why Rumlow is so worried, but he readily agrees because he can't disobey. Rumlow is all relieved... until the asset starts treating him differently. Like, more gently and with concern.
+ The asset doesn't stop. Even after a wipe, he can somehow tell that Rumlow was raped and feels empathy for him because Rumlow is a handler. So he keeps trying in various ways to cheer Rumlow up.
+ All horrible trashy ways that reinforce Rumlow's insecurity and hurt his fragile masculinity
++++ Rumlow breaking down crying and getting a hug from the asset. Everyone else being totally confused.
