in the early days w/HYDRA, they didn't wipe him nearly as often b/c they wanted a more independent operative and the machines weren't as precise. so when there are trashy-times, the WS sees exactly which agents hurt him, and he keeps the memory. and from that moment on, he patiently waits for the perfect opportunity to get payback on each and every one.

+ he's so good at what he does, it doesn't even occur to HYDRA at first that they might not be accidents

++ when he does get caught, they decide the best way to keep it from happening again is to stage a big gang-bang and blindfold him this time so he can't ever know who it was.
