As usual, BLANKET NON-CON AND NSFW WARNINGS apply: just assume going in that everything in this landfill is unfit for human consumption.

Parasites

Something happened to Bucky before he was captured by HYDRA that left his internal organs unable to be used, including his lungs. When they find him, they inject him with experimental parasites that provide the same functions as the missing organs, but the parasite will spread if he speaks a certain language. That language being English.
The parasite causes him to breathe through his skin, so the HYDRA fuckfaces decide that it would be funny to toss a blanket over the Asset while he's sleeping, even though his gear leaves him with breathing diffuculty anyway. Also, drowning/water boarding because he also drinks through his skin so he can't be submerged. Once they've had their "fun", they put him under strict orders to not speak English until he gets to Steve and the others, and then send Bucky to somewhere where Steve will be able to find him easily.
+ if Bucky has a sudden change of heart
++++++if something awful happens to Steve, and Bucky is forced to speak English in order to save him.
There are 3 things I want from this... MAKE ME CRY.
