I also love performative!Bucky, and at this point in his career my headcanon is that he's basically doing it all the time, which makes me want to feed him soup or something. So it's easy to turn it up to eleven, you know?

yuusss I have all the feels for WWII "really needs someone to understand but can't stop faking it long enough to let anyone in" Bucky. And Steve being oblivious ... T0T

(I was just thinking about your undernourished Bucky and how alcohol has a lot of calories, and since Bucky can't get drunk anyway -- it might be a way for him to get some of that energy, while mostly seeming like a normal soldier.)
