You know what would be glorious? And obviously I don't know how far author!anon is taking it...but, if in a sort of strange inversion, Bucky can't really conceive the possibility of Steve loving him (especially after knowing how he felt about Peggy).

Steve isn't naive, and he's from Brooklyn for God's sake; he's aware men can be raped. But in his experience it's something that happens to fairies (very effeminate men) and punks (little guys...you know, like he used to be). Not to big, strong, thoroughly masculine men like Bucky.

I...don't know? I mean he's probably aware some men have sex with each other, but even today a lot of men don't think rape is really something that happens to guys.
