Self-punishment through others
(Anonymous) 2016-01-29 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)So Bucky's back to being somewhat more Bucky than the Winter Soldier, and he's hit by massive guilt over the things he's done. The government lets him off the hook though, and Steve's not gonna punish him either, obviously. So he sets out to get hurt. It starts with bar fights he deliberately loses, and goes downhill (cough cough trashy) soon.
I'm fine with either
- trash past and retraumatizing (very deliberately, because for Bucky that's the worst, so it's what he deserves.)
- HYDRA never having abused Bucky sexually, and it's an entire new kind of horror.
