This slays me, because despite the Soldier's tough talk, it is just so clearly abuse, but he just does not see it anymore, and he doesn't/cannot protest eve if it clearly gets rough and painful.

The thing that really wrenched my gut was the kiss on Neema's neck, because that felt like Bucky's playfulness, and maybe like an attempt to get his affection where he can get it - but also him just being used to reading body language to tell if people want to fuck him, which seems vital to his survival.

And the "what" that followed was interesting - because besides the horror he got it wrong, it could also be read as horror over having touched a woman inappropriately again her will - which would imply he understands rape, and is disgusted by it, but just does not apply it to himself. Which is heartbreaking.

It's awful, but I just really like the idea of Bucky being generally decent to his rapist handlers, especially where he has the physical advantage. Because he knows he'll be punished if he displeases them, of course, but I like to [hurt myself by] think[ing] that he's still in there - that on some level he craves affection, and that his fundamental attitude toward sex is uncorrupted, such that (as you say) he'd be upset to think he frightened someone or touched them in a way they didn't want. And because (again, as you say) it just make his failure to apply those ideas to himself even worse.
