Dumpster #3: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
Holy shitballs, look at us go. Welcome to Captain America fandom's resident wretched hive of scum and villainy: ROUND THREE. AKA Bad Guys Do Dirtybadwrong Things To Your Faves, AKA the Hydra Trash Party kinkmeme. As usual, BLANKET NON-CON AND NSFW WARNINGS apply: just assume going in that everything in this landfill is unfit for human consumption.
Rules in brief: don't be a jerk except to fictional characters, warnings for particularly fucked-up garbage are nice but not required, thou shalt not judge the trashiness of thy neighbor's kinks unless thy neighbor is trying to pass off their rotting banana peels and half-eaten pizza crusts as a healthy romantic dinner for two, off-topic comments may be chucked out of the dumpster at management's discretion, management's discretion decrees that omegaverse, soulbond AUs, D/s-verse, non-superpowered AUs, and dark!good guys AUs are off-topic.
[Round 1] [Round 2] [Fill post] [Chatter post] [hydratrashmeme Pinboard archive (maintained by
greenkirtle)] [Round 3 in flat view (comments in non-threaded chronological order, most recent last)]
Round 3 is closed; comments and fills in existing threads are still welcome, but all new prompts go to Round 4.

Okay, first of all, I adore Steve's social awkwardness, all the way back in part 3, coupled with Bucky's almost-excessive-maybe-genuine-but-borderline-uncomfortable extroversion there. And the little snippets of Bucky's stories/memories but not knowing the details/context ahh!! And him posing them as like, funny conversational inside-joke between friends stuff. Oh god.
All of Bucky's reactions to being told he was raped are PERFECT. Alternating between putting up a front and getting angry/taking it as a personal insult. I'm still dying over That’s pretty callous toward people who have actually been raped, I think in part 4, and all of his bad jokes. And poor awkward Steve not knowing how the hell to react in return but trying (and unfortunately, failing) anyway.
The knife!!! I KNEW the knife was going to come up again in some wonderfully horrible context and you didn't disappoint. (Also, I've never considered hair-cutting as an erotic thing before, but hey, I'm on board now.) I love the contrast of how excited Bucky is ("It made me think of you" slkdfjdsf) versus Steve's misery and awkwardness. And by 'love' I mean 'my heart is broken.'
Speaking of things coming back: I might be totally wrong here, but why do I feel like Creative Nonfiction is going to come into play again, in some other wonderfully horrible context uh ohThe inevitable movement from 'you think the knife idea is trash' into 'you think I'm trash/disgusting/not a person' is killing me. Also: You know, I figured you’d be happy some of them bothered to treat me like a person // Why do you need my life to have been even worse than it was omg GOD. Bucky no! This is exactly the reaction I was imagining here, only like, ten times worse, and I'm loving it.
I continue to flail at the way you write their dialogue; even when they're arguing, they're so sharp with each other, they clearly know each other so well, which only makes it that much worse that they can't, you know, understand each other.
This story continues to be like 10 thumbs up and I'm probably going to read it a bunch more times as I await the next installment!
