omg this whole story was so amazing; I loved every part of it. Bucky's slow descent into the Asset was horrifying and breathtaking. it's hard to imagine how he'll ever be able to claw himself back out, but this last chapter had the perfect amount of heartbreak and hope. my favorite line:

Was he okay. Bucky squinted up at him. Steve Rogers was a strange man with a lot of strange questions, enough to make your head swim. But Bucky had a mantle of calm draped over his shoulders like a shock blanket, and he knew how to be good.

GUH ALL THE FEELS. Awesome job and thanks so much for writing & sharing this. (And I really hope you post to AO3 at some point!)

[OP] Thank you so much!! I'm really pleased to hear the progression comes across as an actual descent instead of redundancies, given the use of repetition; "as before, only worse" was my MO here.

*whispers* I'm actually just sat down to clean up some typos and post it on Ao3 now. ;)
