When Hydra decides that the winter soldier isn't rly of use to them anymore they come up with an antidote to the serum so that no one else can benefit from Bucky's particular skillet. But before they leave him for dead in the middle of nowhere they have one last bit of fun
It's brutal and bucky is left severely wounded. Since he is too injured and has no understanding of even basic hygiene (he was sedated for asset maintenance) the wounds fester and sickness kicks in.
Steve finds him rotting away in an abandoned apartment somewhere in eastern Europe and is forced to perform first aid on a rly gross Bucky.
Cue rotting wounds, pus, blood and other bodily fluids. The smell of decaying flesh. Maybe bucky can't control his bladder. Maybe he is puking everywhere. Maybe a limb has to go. The trash party has a lot of rly quality psychological horror, so let's go back to basics and make this one as gross and filthy and disgusting as possible.
