Dumpster #5: We didn't start the trashfire
Welcome to the latest, greatest, scummiest iteration of
hydratrashmeme. Come on in and please check your sense of shame at the door.
Rules in brief: Don't be a jerk except to fictional characters. Warn if you want, but read at your own risk, because this is emphatically not a safe space. Link your fills on the fill post. Unprompted fills: make a prompt or a header comment and reply to it with the full text. Continuations of fills from earlier rounds: just make sure you link in both places.
What's on-topic: Filthy and perverted twists on all the quality whump served up by Cap: Winter Soldier. Noncon, aftermath, uncomfortably sexualized violence, mind control, inappropriate uses of Bucky Barnes' metal arm, bad guys doing dirtybadwrong things to your faves.
What's off-topic: a/b/o, D/s-verse, soulbonds, mundane AUs, shippy/romanticized noncon, MCU heroes repurposed into OOC or edgydark delivery vehicles for your fave's suffering. If you've got a prompt for one of those burning a hole in your brain, head on over to
mcu_trash.
[Rules in full] [Round 1] [Round 2] [Round 3] [Round 4] [Fill post] [Chatter post] [hydratrashmeme Pinboard archive] [Round 5 in flat view (comments in non-threaded chronological order, most recent last)]

Re: Steve doesn't trust himself not to fight
(Anonymous) 2018-07-13 07:11 am (UTC)(link)Oooh, I'd be delighted with anything you care to share!
Pairing preferences: You know, I realized I was unconsciously picturing this one with Steve and Tony. But Steve is my fandom bicycle, so if you'd rather write it with Bucky or Sam or Natasha or anyone else, run with it.
Do Not Want: Hmmm... to be honest, most of the PTSD symptoms that tend to be fanfic catnip? Vivid flashbacks, panic attacks, sobbing breakdowns, agoraphobia, flinching from touch, etc. Not because there's anything wrong with those, more that they're not what the prompt is about. But that's a preference, not a hard "NOPE."
(To expand on that: the trauma responses I really wanna see Steve grapple with are the ones that come from the combination of "danger instincts all knocked out of calibration" and "fight-or-flight reflex that's at least 80% FIGHT." Punching rather than flinching. Anxiety about sex that manifests as tense-and-defensive, not panicky-and-avoidant. If that makes sense? If not, disregard and just write what you want.)
(...80% fight? I think 80% works. Gotta leave room for the wry commentary and all that stoic jaw-clenching.)
Re: Steve doesn't trust himself not to fight
(Anonymous) 2018-07-14 06:08 am (UTC)(link)Oh, don't worry, that makes perfect sense and it's exactly what drew me to the prompt.
Re: Steve doesn't trust himself not to fight
(Anonymous) 2018-07-15 08:54 am (UTC)(link)Steve/Tony is only occasionally my thing, but it seems kinda fitting for this premise--sardonic, maladjusted assholes cheerfully enabling each other's weird coping mechanisms. With kinky sex. And eyebrow-raising abuses of materials science to make bondage gear. And emotionally constipated willingness to repress PTSD unless and until you become a danger to your partner... at which point it's totally cool to turn it into a problem-solving exercise with the consent of all involved, right? Right.
