Thanks so much! I figured the Wakandan’s must have popular baby names as well. W’Kabi is not related to the other W’Kabi in Black Panther. Should I change the name to avoid future confusion? Maybe it’s one of those instances where something only works for the author but not the reader.

That makes sense, but I feel like the existence of popular names is one of those RL things that is confusing in fiction. Like, I know tons of people named Chris, but if I was reading a story and multiple characters were named Chris I would think it was supposed to have some significance. It sent me off on a short mental digression ("Is this W'Kabi's son or other relative who's named after him?" etc).

Other readers may feel differently though.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I was unsure about this tbh and after some consideration I changed the boy’s name to T’Waki on Ao3. Can’t change entries with a reply to them here apparently though. :)
