I want to know what's the sentiment behind the worst thing happening to characters having to be rape. I know it has to do with violation and losing power, etc., but for a trash meme it seems that everyone steers toward sexual violence as the worst that could happen to a character. There doesn't seem to be a lot of variety here and all the prompts are various flavors of gang-banging, etc.

My second question is why most vehemently defend the HTP as not fetishsizing rape, when almost all of the rape prompts are met with applause and people drooling and openly stating that they want it? Why not simply admit it's a kink? Even if it's as a coping mechanism, just admit you enjoy characters being put through trauma. It's a harmless kink and the only harm done is by people unwittingly reading it, which hardly ever happens since there's tagging. Do some not want to admit it's a kink because they feel it makes them dirty? Why not embrace your rape fetish?

Please don't take this as an attack. I'm really curious as to why this is the general theme among people that enjoy HTP.

Yes? Because Marvel just went there again, and you might enjoy. the content itself is in Thunderbolts #7, and gave me 30 minutes of pure joy this morning. Issue also contains Hydra!Steve and Stucky undertones. I got a physical copy, but there's digital ones, to be acquired by paying or other means (but I'm not expert on the latter).

I know this topic comes up periodically, but I always enjoy reading people's answers, and I know there are more people around than have answered in the past, along with new people! So, trash denizens, what are some of your favorite trash tropes? I'll start.

I really like exploring dehumanization through things like Bucky being called "it" while with Hydra, or Hydra operatives nonchalantly ordering him to do horrible things while otherwise ignoring him. Just the casual little things that say so much in very few words.

On the other hand, I also love touch-starved Bucky who turns into a fawning puppy as soon as someone appears to be nice to him.

Writers -- what's the nicest/funniest/most uplifting comment you ever received on a trash or trash adjacent fic? (Here or elsewhere.)

My favorites include "It sounds like you researched this HOW ON EARTH DID YOU RESEARCH THIS" and a simple "I came."

Why not have this wonderful tradition transplanted here?

Hey dumpster dwellers, a question for you. I'm working on a post-Project Insight Hydra wins trash AU, and starting to wonder—what would that actually look like politically? I've re-watched Zola's explanation in CA:TWS, about humanity needing to surrender its freedom willingly, but...surrender to whom? Who's running the government? Whose interests are being vindicated?

Hi everyone! I've fallen into the dumpster badly and I cannot get out... Before I fell in though, I started on a Winter Soldier cosplay (the codename for the project is SovietMurderBarbie actually, haha). It's due to make its first appearance March 25th at the Dutch Comic Con. I came across this prompt for dogshaming WS, and I wondered if you guys would appreciate if I did a series of dogshaming pics in my cosplay, mhaha.

I'm not too sure how I'd do em in a way that it suggests Winter but doesn't make it too obvious that I am no Sebastian Stan lookalike. I have the muzzle, so that's something... Or maybe someone could throw on a filter in photoshop or something? So, I guess this is an offer... and a prompt, gimme all the dogshaming goodness you'd like to see!

A very cracky strange thing I wrote after a day of cosplay fun at the Comic Con!

Mission report March 25, 2017.
Mission Objective: Fun at Comic Con.
Filed by: The Asset, mission designation “Soviet Murder Barbie” and "TheAwfulDodger".

This Asset boarded a train in the east at 10.30 hours with the Handler; designation “Little Brother”. When they had to make a stop to change trains, Handler “Little Brother” bought this Asset coffee and a cookie. It was hot and had foam on top. The Asset was undercover as a civilian at this time, and initiated skillset “Small Talk” on board the second train. Asset found out that handler “Little Brother” does not know The Asset’s trigger words past Longing-Rusted-Seventeen, but can do a Russian meme impression about Chicky Bricky. This Asset thinks Commander Rumlow might have to be informed about this.

Handler ‘’Little Brother” and Asset arrived at specified location at 11.24 hours, and had to stand in line for approximately 20 minutes. Handler made good use of this time and strapped on the Asset’s weapons. At the entrance, Asset was checked over by a security... technician... and received the all-clear in the shape of a bracelet. Asset liked the bracelet, it was red and soft and had a lion on it. After Handler “Little Brother” received a bracelet, he rushed the Asset through three halls because the Asset had an appointment at 12.00 hours in the far hall. The Asset already saw a couple of almost-but-not-quite-man-from-the-bridge.

Asset was surrendered into the care of Speed dating Technicians at 12.00 hours. The technician clipped a numbered tag to Asset’s gear, Asset was #23. After this, The Asset was lead into a white room with many people and many chairs, and was ordered to sit in chair #23. A very confusing 90 minutes followed. The Asset does not know this “speed-dating” thing and does have an answer to questions like “Marvel or DC?”. The Asset is also not a Hufflepuff and does not want to be an aminal because it is already a weapon and a weapon is more useful to shape the future than an animal.

After 90 very confusing minutes of ticking boxes, the Asset was released from the care of the Speed dating Technicians, and was picked up by a new Handler (designation “Helen”, best friend). Handler Helen had her husband and two little Superheroes with her. The tiniest Superhero looked very familiar and clung to the Asset in a way that felt very familiar too. The little Superhero’s blue-red-and-white gear was giving this Asset a headachy feeling. Asset dubbed this little superhero BB!Steeb.

Handler “Helen” took the Asset and the little Superheroes to another big hall filled with many people. There were quite a few Not-Quite-Steve’s there, and even another Asset. The Asset did not like this other Asset, surely that other Asset could have been left in cryo. The Asset hugged a few Not-Quite-Steve’s but none of them were the right fit.

Handler “Helen”, the superheroes and the Asset were joined by Handler designation “Kallanda”, and they went to get food. Handler “Kallanda” picked an American diner style place to eat. This Asset thought it was Capitalist garbage, but changed its opinion after it got to have real people food too. The Asset got a burger and a coke, which was pure Capitalist poison but also the tastiest thing this Asset had in 70 years. The little superheroes did not want to share the Asset’s food, which was weird, because the Asset was not supposed to have human food in the first place. Afterwards, the Asset was useful and put the trash where it belongs. The Handlers praised the Asset, which was nice.

Handler “Kallanda” took the Asset to a Very Familiar Exhibit after lunch. There was a Very Familiar Costume and Shield at the exhibit. There were also pictures of the Man On The Bridge, and someone who looked like The Asset a lot but was identified as [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] looked at the Man On The Bridge like he was the sun. The Asset wanted to touch but there was glass. It looked at its own reflection and felt very sad.

After this, The Asset did many weird and wonderful mission-related things with both Handlers. Handler “Kallanda” and Asset rode a motorbike and visited a strange place called “Rainbow Road”. Handler “kallanda” took the Asset on a mission to find a pikachu hat. Handler “Helen” bought the Asset an icecream cone, it was soft and cold and white, but sweet and nice, unlike other white things. The Asset shot the ceiling and the bullet ricoched into the icecream truck. BB!Steeb and the Asset went disco dancing in a Guardians of the Galaxy disco. The two little superheroes and the Asset met a mechanical dog at a blue box, a man with spiky hair, a striped suit and a long brown coat took pictures. The Asset liked the man’s shoes.

During the mission, The Asset and the Handlers encountered a lot of other Operatives and civilians. Some wanted to take the Asset’s picture. Some looked very familiar. Some wanted to fight the Asset. The Asset did not critically injure anyone, nor sustained damage itself. Notable amongst these were the targets named “Logan” and “Little!Falcon”.

At 18.00 hours, the handlers deemed the mission completed and succesful. Handler “Kallanda” dressed the Asset in civilian gear again. The Asset was hugged by Handler “Kallanda”. It was a good hug. Handler “Little Brother” was nowhere to be found, so the Asset was sent back to base by Handler “Kallanda” after many a ‘hail Hydra!’. The Asset travelled back to base by train in undercover mode, and arrived at the base around 20.30 hours. It was hydrated, cleaned and put into cryo with a smile on its face.

I'm legit confused here, and I know it's offtopic but this is an offtopic discussion, so...

Are there any fics where STRIKE/SHIELDRA torture/"gang rape" one of their own as a test/loyalty excercise/"practice"?
Especially if it's Rumlow or/and they make light of it and/or the torturer's Rollins

This place has turned into Avengerkink, except sub Tony for Bucky. To the point that people are wanting to give Steve-centric prompts Bucky-centric fills or are re-prompting them as Bucky-centric. Idk, that just seems like rude meme etiquette

I remember seeing mention of a trash chat back in the day, but at the time I was way too shy to try to join in. It seems like it could be such fun! Wondering if a discord server or something could happen.

Which one's the most active these days? I was in the slack but it's completely dead now, idk what happened.

I know there's a lot of deliciously awful villain/hero noncon in other corners of Marvel fandom, which doesn't qualify as HTP because it's not about Cap characters, but surely it's relevant to many trashbabies' interests. I know these places always slow down after an certain amount of time, but damn it I miss how awesome and active this place used to be. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still some good stuff posted every now and then, but I remember when I used to check this place daily and there was always some new and great content.

There have been... a lot of comments recently by anons who don't seem fully aware of what

hydratrashmeme is about. From context, it sounds like they're interpreting "trash" as either "raunchy kink stuff that might get me anon hate on Tumblr" or "any kind of bad, whumpy, dehumanizing stuff happening to a character."

And to be fair, it's not like #2 is even inaccurate. Just incomplete, in that it doesn't account for how specialized and idiosyncratic the usage has become on the HTP kinkmeme. "Bucky Barnes, Hydra party favor" -> "Hydra party favor trash party 2k14" -> "Hydra trash party" -> tropes about "Bucky's trash past" as a Hydra party favor -> "trash" as shorthand or even euphemism for "Bucky and/or Steve and/or another CA:TWS character get the bejeezus raped outta them."

Most of those have plenty of context cues that the entire premise of HTP is one giant noncon-fest, but I've seen more and more uses of "trash" on its own to mean "you know, the kind of stuff we write here, wink wink nudge nudge." Which seems to have unmoored itself from what it originally referred to, because now we've got anons using "trash party" as a synonym for "orgy" or flat-out asking "Wait, by 'trash' do you mean sex?"

Presumably those anons picked up on the "filthy kink stuff" or "terrible things happen to Bucky Barnes" implications and, IDK, assumed that much like Avengerkink ended up with a disproportionate woobie!Tony fixation, Hydratrashmeme ended up with a disproportionate noncon fixation. Or something. When no, what we've got is a premise.

Just going to end this with Trashmod's reply to the "By 'trash' do you mean sex?" comment, which lays out the premise in a nutshell but got buried in the thread:

"To the extent this kinkmeme has a unifying purpose, it's taking the high-quality whump supplied by canon and dragging it to places that are nasty, filthy, and wrong. So yeah, the badwrong sex aspect is pretty non-optional."

I'd be even more explicit than that: HTP may have room around the edges for other variants of 'badwrong,' but its basic premise has always been "OK, what if CA:TWS, but with a fuckton of noncon included in the brutality?" I'd assumed that was common knowledge. It's really frickin' surreal to see a bunch of people who apparently never got that memo participating in the HTP kinkmeme--what do they think they're contributing to?

Anyway. We might wanna reconsider using "trash" as a vague euphemism for HTP's subject matter, because unintended side effects. Besides, it's HTP, what's the point of euphemisms? If you're asking someone else to write rape recovery fic for you, surely you can use the actual word to describe the thing you want to read.

hi @trashmod, long time kink meme lurker here. an innocent bystander not asking to get ran over by the garbage truck, if you will. just looking for clarification re: the recent wave of frozen prompts. question is:

is extreme gore/body horror (including but not limited to cannibalism, medical kink, torture, non con body modification) involving HYDRA and the Winter Solider actually allowed if it is not explicitly sexual? just looking for an answer so we can end the discussion once and for all and go back to writing (or relocate if this kinda content isnt within the rules).

please consider that requests of similar nature have been previously prompted/filled/generally allowed without anyone making a fuss, so do explain why a change in the rules (if there is one, of course)!
