There's a common trope in trashchat of Bucky coming in from the cold and then thinking he has to sleep with Steve and/or the other Avengers.

There's also the line in CA:tWS where Fury tells Steve something about how Natasha is willing to do anything.

So: I want to know what happened when Natasha was brought in to SHIELD by Clint, figured out that Fury was the director, and immediately set out to seduce him in to her bed, because that's what powerful girls in the Red Room did to curry favor with the people in charge of the Red Room. She knows she's somewhere new, and she knows they're "good" guys, so she goes with the "sad, rescued, innocent" damsel routine. Is she embarrassed when she finally realizes that Fury really doesn't have any interest in sleeping with someone under him who's only seducing him to curry his favor? HYDRA plays a prank on the winter soldier

They tell him he gets to plan his next mission, that HYDRA will give him the target as per usual but can do all his own recon and planning. After the planning is done he has to present his mission brief for review. Then this will become a regular thing. Easy.

So the winter soldier works really hard on his mission plan, getting all the details right because he knows how important this is, everyone likes positive reinforcement, and the winter soldier is no exception. He takes pride in his work; he has helped shape the century. His mission brief is complete and he feels confident, happy even that he is going to do really well. He is going to impress the higher ups and he will be rewarded with more tasks to achieve.

Once he gets into the room is when the trashiness starts. Turns out that the whole thing was a prank and they humiliate him and brutalize him. “How could you ever think that we would actually let you, you a dumb animal do this?” etc

+ The winter soldier knows something is wrong when he enters the room but everyone keeps up the facade so he isn’t aware of just how wrong and bad things will get until they are pretty much there. Tough luck: at some point, HYDRA wins and both Steve and Bucky 2.0 get captured. No Bucky knows what's coming, not only the brainwashing but also the torture and trash stuff. Thing is, there's a lot he's never told Steve.

Bucky's #1 priority (while they hope for someone to break them out..?) is to keep Steve as unharmed as possible, and #2 while not letting him find out too much about what happens to Bucky instead.

(Let's say there are a few agents that still know the Winter Soldier from before, and as they think they have all the time in the world, they don't mind playing a few games before they get started for real. So this fidgety version of the Winter Soldier proposes he won't struggle if they leave Steve out of it for now? Why not, let's see how far he can be pushed.)

OMG I can imagine Steve and Bucky being in adjacent cells or whatever, and they take turns taking Steve and Bucky out for "sessions". And every time Bucky comes back, he sounds a little more grim and drawn out when they try to talk across the cell walls, and Steve's worried, but -- I mean, Steve's getting beaten up and stuff, but it's not *that* bad, is it? Is it that Bucky's body can't take as much? But Bucky's just like "it's nothing." And maybe Steve knows Bucky's hiding something, but the best thing he could do is try to get out.

And in the mean time, Bucky's just desperately trying to keep the HYDRA goons entertained. Because he knows that both of them are at their mercy, and once the goons are bored, there's nothing he can do to stop Bad Things from happening to Steve. "Hey guys want to see how many times you can tase my dick before I pass out?"

Maybe he just rips through the hydra bases, squeezing one man's head with his metal hand until it pops, tearing another woman's body in two with sheer force. It's iffy (IMO) because God knows Bucky deserves to kill a shitload of people for what's been done to him, but...
